About Me

Hi! My name is Asia Leach and I'm a second-year student at the University of Cincinnati majoring in Speech Language Hearing Sciences. I'm also a part of the Turner Scholars Program and a Cincinnatus Scholarship. On campus, I'm a peer leader within my major, serve as an ambassador for the Turners program, serve on the board of MC'2, a member of NSSHLA, and a Residential Advisor.

In the future, I envision myself becoming a speech pathologist. This aspiration was sparked during my time in a summer progra where I learned about the increasing number of speech impediments diagnosed in young children. Opportunities like this challenge me to consider diverse perspectives, articulate various topics, and develop innovative solutions. I aim to use my voice as a gift to others, building their confidence and abilities to use their own.

Some of my passions and hobbies include visual art/painting, cooking, fashion, doing nails and hair, and bible study.
Art has always been a part of who I am. Since a young age, I'd use pictures as a way of expression and communication. Attending both middle school and high school majoring in visual arts allowed me to grow my artistic abilities and craft my own personal style. Since high school I have earned two Silver Key scholastic Art Awards and one Gold Key Scholastic art awards, along with earning the Louisville Emerging Innovator Art Award. and having done to murals- one of which was held at the Muhammad Ali Center Musuem!

My faith is also a big aspect of who I am. Spending time reading the word and in the presence of the Lord has been a growing aspect of my character. As someone that has not always been a believer, finding Jesus was very impactful to the person I am now. Not only have it changed me spiritually, physically, and emotionally, but it's also impacted how I interact with others. Being able to find community that I can confide in along with being a light to those I come across means so much to me. I strive to impact those around me with joy and care as I have been so blessed to receive.
